The Finance Indaba Africa expo kicked off at the Sandton Convention Centre, where the continent’s most progressive finance professionals met for a day of learning, networking and beer chugging.

    What is Finance Indaba Africa?

Finance Indaba Africa is a two-day conference that attracts world-class speakers from all over Africa and the world who lead discussions and programmes on finance, business and entrepreneurship.

By the looks of it, things have kicked off to a great start. Scores of finance professionals shared pics and videos of the day’s ongoings.

    — Malibongwe® (@malibizy) October 16, 2019 Key highlights of Day One

On the first day of Finance Indaba Africa, attendees got a glimpse of what was in store for them. The venue was divided into eight sections: the main stage, three ballroom areas, a boardroom, and three breakaway areas.

On the main stage, things kicked off with a Rule Breaking 101 talk led by Marnus Broodryk, a revered entrepreneur and author of SME Africa. Shortly after a brief interval, Michael Cook, Senior Manager at Cognizant, led an address about ‘What Can Finance Do When Machines Do Everything?‘.

The ballrooms were where the bustling noise came from the most. They were subdivided into three areas: the C-Suite, the Inner Maverick, and Discover the Future Today.

In all three of these rooms, keynote speakers such as Rudolph Janse van Rensburg from TreasuryOne, and Rui Morais, CFO at Dischem Pharmacies, held discussions on entrepreneurship.

What is going down on Day Two?

The second — and last — day of Finance Indaba Africa will be packed with useful information and opportunities for finance professionals, especially entrepreneurs, to network and build meaningful business relationships.

You can expect the likes of MTN’s Ralph Mupita, Athol Williams, a senior lecturer and poet, as well as Andrew McMaster from FD Peninsula Beverages.
